A wise man knows everything but a shrewd man knows everyone.

Build relationships and you will build a fortune.....
Learning to network effectively is one of the keys to being successful in any given business.  If you are amiable, a good listener and interested in other people, they will come back to you time and time again.  I’m not suggesting you fake it – absolutely not – learning to take real time to be interested in other people will move your business forward more quickly than any other advertising.  Why?  Because people talk.  Word of mouth is the most cost effective method of marketing, and if you left your customer/prospect feeling important they will recommend you.
Before we get too far ahead, please understand that I am sympathetic to those of you who are allergic to networking. I have heard all of the excuses and I realize that a certain per cent of people do not like the networking "thing". If that describes you, perhaps by the end of this article, you will reconsider your position.
Keep in mind that networking should be one component of your Marketing Plan just like business cards, website, advertising, direct mail, cold calling, articles, signage, newsletters, flyers, brochures, your customer base, voicemail messages, etc.
Consider this: it is said that the average person knows 250-300 people. Stop and consider that you are just a few introductions away from 60,000-90,000 people. What do you think of the networking "thing" now?
Instead of seeing networking as a means to find prospects, look at is as a way to just make friends. You may find its one of the most enjoyable parts of your business.  All it takes is a minute shift in the way you perceive meeting people.  Try to remember these points:
·         People want you to say hello – they are a little nervous too, be the one who puts them at ease
·         Let them talk.  People love to talk about themselves so give them the chance to let rip and chatter – they will love you for it.
·         Be fascinated.  People are fascinating.  When you smile at someone be aware of how great that makes you feel, well, chances are it’s made them feel pretty good too.
·         You don’t need to be forceful. “Hi my name is ….. How are you today?” with a smile and an outstretched hand will get the ball rolling nicely.
·         LISTEN to their response, then follow up with a “Wow, that’s great, so.. what do you do?” LISTEN to their response, then something along the lines of “that’s really interesting.. tell me more about that”… and they will.
·         Before you know it, you’ve made a friend, who has friends, who have friends. Leave a positive, friendly impact – and all you need to do to achieve that is leave them feeling good about themselves.
·         Don’t rush into a pitch about your business – you are making friends and building relationships.  The business will come.

Effective networking is NOT:
  • A short-term marketing strategy.
  • About you.
  • For handing out business cards unsolicited.
  • About being interesting.
  • About taking.
Effective networking IS:
  • An opportunity to build relationships.
  • About them.
  • About being asked for your business card.
  • About being interested.
  • About giving
By embracing this ‘paradigm’ shift, your new primary objective when networking is to build relationships and build a network while being genuinely interested in helping the other person. Getting clients or customers immediately is no longer your goal. Your goal is to become the go-to person and expand your sphere of influence.
This is much easier if you are passionate about helping people achieve their dreams by actively connecting them with appropriate people, groups and organizations. Under the new paradigm, a great outcome of a networking encounter is that you never get an opportunity to tell the other person what you do. Sounds crazy doesn't it? Keep reading!
By giving, you are memorable in the eyes of your prospect when compared to everyone else who just wants to sell them something. You have created a friend. Never forget that people do business with people they like but they do more with people they trust.
A robust contact management system is the second component to becoming a master networker. Given that your new focus is on the other person, you must have a stout system that allows you to follow up with the people you meet. Regardless of what you use, the use of a system of some sort is non-negotiable. No point making a friend with someone you never speak to again!
You must have the discipline to follow up with the people you meet especially if you did not have an opportunity to introduce your business to them. In your system, record information about the person, their business and your conversation for future reference.
Execution is the third component of becoming a master networker.

I’ve created an acronym of how to execute the plan to become a Master Networker:
L.A.S.E.R.
  1. Listen to your prospect. Focus on them - - not yourself. Ask questions. Remember, the more you encourage someone to talk, the more they like you.
  2. Absorb the experience of meeting your prospect. Remember what they do and what they need? What makes them unique? Take notes, build a picture of them so you instantly remember them next time you speak.
  3. Support your prospects by connecting them to other people that can help them achieve their goals. Use the testimonials that are readily available for you, they are compiled for that purpose so use them!
  4. Establish a network of people already in the business and new prospects so you can create a connection between people for them to relate to.  Again, use the testimonials on Gavin’s Testimonial page, get along to your local meetings and discover social networking meetings in your area – lots of people all looking to build relationships. Perfect.
  5. Receive referrals. If you build your network up over time, connect people to each other and pass meaningful referrals, what you get in return will far exceed your expectations. Enjoy your journey to becoming a Master Networker.
Happy Networking!

Tax For Kleeneze & Direct Sales Distributors

Tax For Kleeneze & Direct Sales Distributors

A frequently asked question when people are looking to start their own home-based business with Kleeneze.  REgardless of the added income to be gained by building your own Kleeneze network, there are great benefits to becoming self-employed in this way.

How Do I Pay Tax On Kleeneze Income?

To provide a quick answer would be: you pay income tax on any profits you make over your annual tax allowance.   How much income tax and National Insurance you pay also depends whether you have another income or not (e.g. from another business or job).
Here’s some general guidance:
  • Once you have registered as self-employed, you will receive a starter pack from the Inland Revenue
  • You will pay approx. £2.40 per week Class 2 National Insurance (N.I.) contributions.  You also pay Class 4 National Insurance contributions as a percentage of your taxable profits
  • Your income tax will be calculated on a self-assessment basis at the end of the tax year
  • Unless time is very tight, you can do your own self-assessment, which can easily be done over a weekend.  Alternatively, you can hire a book keeper / accountant
Income that is generated from a business or self-employment has a more favourable tax position than income received from employment as a salary.  That is because in a business you pay yourself first and are then taxed.  In a job, you are taxed and then paid.

Legitimate Business Expenses

Many of the things you already spend on can be counted towards your business expenses, thus decreasing your profits on paper and therefore your tax liabilities.  These include:
  • Car Mileage (you can claim up to 40p per mile)
  • Telephone
  • Mobile Phone
  • Internet (ISP) charges
  • Office Stationery
  • Computer Hardware (e.g. printer cartridges, or even a PC or Laptop)
  • Business Marketing materials e.g. catalogues, business cards
  • Meals (if you have spent the night away from home)
  • A proportion of your utility bills if you dedicate a room of your house to your business
There may also be business startup funding available from time to time, such as the Job Centre Plus Adviser Discretion Fund.
N.B. the above does not constitute tax advice and is for information purposes only. I recommend you refer to the HMRC website or consult a local accountant for clarification.

Life is about choices

From day one I have taught my kids that life is about choices.  Our destination, where we end up, where we are now is all down to the  choices we make on a daily basis - to take responsibility for where we are is in itself extremely empowering.  If we believe that that someone else is responsible, believe that we had 'no choice' that leads to a feeling of hopelessness, and things are only hopeless if you choose to believe that.  So if you have started this year not feeling great about where you are - take an honest evaluation of the choices you have made, accept that maybe all those choices might not have been the best ones and you are already on the road to a better life.  You can choose to make better choices right now!

If you have come across something in life that you believe can work for you, something that will take you nearer to your dreams and goals, make a choice to grab it with both hands.  Don't let friends, family or guys down the pub or club tell you it can't be done - what they are actually saying to you is they don't have the belief that they can do 'it'.  You aren't them.  Have courage - make life happen for you.

I came across this clip from Will Smith recently.  Enspiring words:

My wish for you is that you truly live in and enjoy the choices you make.  I hope every one takes you closer to that which will make you happy and your life fulfilled.

Make life magical.  Have a great Day

Bank Account

I received this email today and decided that it was too good not to share.  The message is simple and profound.  Life is about choices.. we can choose to be happy, or not.  We can choose to be as healthy as possible, or not.  We can choose to wish for better things in life and work towards them, or not.  We can choose to be a victim - or not.  Life is about choices, make good ones.

A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with his hair fashionably combed and shaved perfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today.
His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready.
As he manoeuvred his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window.
I love it,' he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.
Mr. Jones, you haven't seen the room; just wait.'
'That doesn't have anything to do with it,' he replied.
Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time.
Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged ... it's how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it.
'It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do.. Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I'll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I've stored away.. Just for this time in my life. Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw from what you've put in.
So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories!
Thank you for your part in filling my Memory Bank.
I am still depositing.
'Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.

Seeing Kleeneze in another way......

I had an email today from someone who, after an initial conversation, seemed keen and capable of building a Kleeneze business so when I got an email to the contrary I was somewhat frustrated.  Her reasons for not getting started were clear - not having a fixed income straight away would be a problem.  It occurred to me that in the short window we have to talk to new prospects we rarely get the chance to help them see the full potential of what they have stumbled across.  Clearly, from what I had come to learn about this lady and her partner they liked a challenge, weren't afraid of a bit of hard work and had big dreams.  How could I help her to not let go of this opportunity before she I was sure I had done my job properly and highlighted all the benefits?

I agree  completely that you need to have a fixed income and in the initial stages with Kleeneze this will be around £200 - £250 a month if done part-time, but this can grow extremely quickly.  Some people do create full time incomes, often very large incomes by making cataloging a full time job right from the start, and if its the only way for some people to get out of a rut its a blessing,  its hard work and not necessarily a path I recommend to people, unless it is their personal choice but its working for lots of people so if you aren't afraid of a bit of hard work, its a choice you can consider. Working it around either a full time job or another part-time job is a fantastic option in the beginning. A simple system, planned out and structured into you week will get anybody off to a great start.  Kleeneze, being part of the Network Marketing Industry is designed to help people increase their income with the much needed flexibility to slot the extra work into the fabric of their daily lives.  Anybody who needs extra money, needs to do some kind of extra work to get it, be it a part-time job or some kind of independent venture.  The problems that arise with both these can be, in the case of part-time employment, restrictions on your time e.g. you must be working for someone else at set hours every week.  Obviously if you are trying to fit this in around another job, the hours may clash or will undoubtedly be evenings or weekends and for usually minimum wage that will never increase, or if you choose an independent venture - maybe offering a service or selling goods you make or buy, the first problems here are finding clients or having the capital to get going.

With Kleeneze the initial stages are set up for you already.  There is no stock to buy, no stock to house and the tools to find your customers are ready and waiting, you just have to use them.  Most people start a Kleeneze business in their spare time.  Of course if you work full-time, the time you devote to your business would still be weekends or evenings, but the difference is the hours are set by you, so if you have an important function or there are activities you do already that you don't want to give up, you don't have to because you can work around them.  As with the case of the independent venture, yes, there is an investment but, you can choose how much you wish to invest from 'zero' upwards and even the largest investment is less than £200, whereas conventional s/e ventures can be very precarious when it comes to how much you are going to need to get going and it can be months if not years before you see a return.  With Kleeneze you can recoup your investment in your first 4 weeks or even less.

MORE IMPORTANTLY: The other bonus to starting Kleeneze, and this is often not explained initially - mainly because we fear we will over complicate things, worried that we will scare people off by giving them too much information,  when it is actually, in my opinion, one of the most important features of the business, is that the business model is designed so that you build, over time, a passive income.  In today's society where so few people have a pension this is a massive massive plus.  The only other way you can obtain these kind of royalty payments is by writing a book or recording a song etc.  Does it happen overnight - no, absolutely not.  Kleeneze is a way for ordinary people to earn an extra £50-£60 a week and help other people do the same.  If you showed 10 people how they can earn an extra £50 a week that would earn you circa. £1500 a month passive income. To some people, an extra £50 a week could mean the difference between paying their mortgage or losing their home, running their car - maybe even making car payments, a holiday fund or money towards university costs.

Kleeneze is not a convincing business, so this kind of email is rarely sent.  However, I am passionate about trying to show people what they have stumbled across when they find Kleeneze.  You are going to need about 7 - 10 hours a week to get going - it's simple - you don't have to go into a warzone to do it, you don't have to sell your Granny and you may never have to borrow money ever again.  Yes, you may get wet occasionally, but on the plus side, when the sun is shining you needn't be stuck in the office.  You need to be 'tough, resilient, bouyant' - well if we are to trust what the media is saying "Tough times are coming" - you are going to need to be all those things anyway - Are you prepared?
